A new and improved interactive art installation titled Immersed in Wonderland is now debuting in New York City for Spring 2020 between March and June! You do not want to miss this spectacular showcase of beautifully painted and colorful display, that you can touch and interact with.

Who is Alexa Meade, the artist?

Alexa Meade is an American interactive art installation artist best known for her portraits painted directly onto the human body and inanimate objects in a way that collapses depth and makes her models appear two-dimensional when photographed. Thanks Wikipedia!

I had the chance to visit the installation when it debuted for the first time in Beverly Hills, California. I happened upon it completely by chance over a year ago. And I am so happy to hear that it has traveled and is now coming soon in New York City. The Immersed in Wonderland exhibit is a totally different way to experience art.

About the Art Exhibit Immersed in Wonderland

We thought we would just be looking at the art installations but it turns out you could actually interact WITH the art. There were about 10 different art “zones” at the Los Angeles location. And two of them had live painted models you could interact with and take photos with. Alexa was there that day we attended for a live painting, and she was painting a third model and an additional zone to add to the show. So there were crowds and cameras all towards the back with fun lively music.

It was pet friendly.
Blending in…

On top of interacting with the art and the models, you could actually put on props yourself that the artist, Alexa, had painted just for this purpose. Basically you could become part of the different art zones. Blending into the other painted props in each zone. It was super fun and amounted to great photos sessions.

Lush!

The only con I would say is that all the props were being used by other guests of the exhibit as well. We all waited for our turns, but you never know who wore or touched the props last. I’m kind of a germ-a-phobe and it was around flu season, so I was really hesitant to take the risk. But at the end, as you can tell by the photos, I just jumped in. And we used a lot of hand sanitizer at the end of the night. We got lucky, we didn’t get sick or catch cooties. HAHAHA!
